An Intimate Sunset Wedding Aboard the Dandeana in Marina del Rey, California
Southern California Weddings
Beautiful, open landscapes make for gorgeous wedding photos!
There is something undeniably romantic about celebrating a wedding on the water—especially as the sun begins to set over Marina del Rey and the sky becomes part of the design. This intimate wedding aboard the Dandeana, one of FantaSea Yachts’ elegant vessels, brought together a beautiful open-air setting, thoughtful personal details, and an extraordinary sunset-inspired floral palette.
With the yacht gliding through the calm waters of the marina, the evening felt private, relaxed, and wonderfully removed from the ordinary. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, the couple celebrated against an ever-changing backdrop of glowing sky, shimmering water, and passing sailboats.
An Open-Air Wedding Reception on the Water
The reception took place on the second level of the Dandeana, where the open-air deck allowed guests to enjoy the coastal breeze and panoramic views of the bay throughout the evening. Rather than filling the space with several smaller tables, the design centered on one dramatic 30-foot white lacquer dining table.
This single, elongated table created an intimate sense of togetherness while making a striking visual statement. Its clean, contemporary finish provided the perfect contrast to the lush, organic floral details running its full length.
Transparent ghost chairs kept the setting light and unobstructed, allowing the surrounding views and floral meadow to remain the focus. Dusky pink cushions added softness and warmth, while a delicate lace runner brought romantic texture to the sleek white tabletop.
A Floral Meadow Inspired by the Sunset
The Nature of Things Fine Flowers designed a continuous floral meadow using an abundant collection of bud vases placed along the table. Each vessel held thoughtfully selected blooms in deep pink, golden yellow, glowing orange, soft blue, lavender, plum, and rich burgundy—the same colors that appeared across the sky as the yacht cruised through the bay at sunset.
Rather than reading as separate arrangements, the bud vases flowed together as one airy, garden-style composition. Flowers seemed to grow naturally along the table, weaving between slender taper candles and flickering votives. The varied heights, shapes, and colors gave the design a gathered, painterly quality while preserving an open view across the table so guests could easily see and speak with one another.
As daylight faded, the candles began to glow more prominently. Their warm light reflected against the white lacquer surface and glass bud vases, creating an atmosphere that felt both refined and deeply romantic.
A Statement Arrangement with a Meadow Effect
At the end of the table, a large, tall statement floral arrangement rose directly from the floor. Designed to feel connected to the tabletop flowers, it extended the meadow beyond the place settings and into the surrounding space.
The arrangement created a natural focal point without competing with the open-air setting. Its generous scale anchored the long table, while its loose, garden-inspired silhouette echoed the movement of the smaller floral moments. From certain angles, the flowers appeared to emerge from the deck itself—an unexpected floral meadow floating above the water.
Personalized Details for Every Guest
Every element of this intimate yacht wedding was considered, including the custom lace place settings inscribed with each guest’s name. These personalized pieces served as both elegant table details and meaningful keepsakes.
The lace place settings complemented the runner and brought a delicate, handcrafted quality to the modern table. Paired with the ghost chairs, dusky pink cushions, candlelight, and jewel-toned flowers, they helped create a reception that felt layered, personal, and entirely unique to the couple.
A Marina del Rey Sunset Cruise to Remember
As dinner unfolded, the Dandeana cruised around the bay beneath a spectacular Marina del Rey sunset. Deep pinks and oranges melted into yellow, lavender, blue, plum, and burgundy, beautifully mirroring the flowers on the table.
The changing light transformed the reception throughout the evening. What began as a bright, airy dinner on the water gradually became a candlelit celebration beneath the dusky sky. Guests could move through the open-air space, take in the views, and experience the magic of the coast from an entirely different perspective.
For couples dreaming of an intimate Southern California wedding, a yacht celebration in Marina del Rey offers a memorable combination of privacy, movement, scenery, and romance. With a guest list of loved ones, one beautifully designed table, and florals inspired by the evening sky, this wedding proved that an intimate celebration can still feel immersive, luxurious, and truly unforgettable.
